We’re not certain how many screen suppliers Apple has at this point, but LG is certainly a major player, so our ears tend to perk up when the Korean manufacturer admits it can’t stay ahead of the game. LG CEO Kwon Young-Soo told reporters the firm just can’t keep up with incredible demand for the iPad’s brilliant 9.7-inch IPS display, and suggested that Cupertino might actually have to slow international expansion as a direct result. “Apple may have to delay launches of the iPad for some countries due to tight component supplies and strong demand,” he said, adding that even if the firm were to increase production capacity, supplies would remain tight through early 2011. Residents of Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore and The Netherlands came in under the wire, but it sounds like there may be another wait for the rest of the world.

If you carry your sheet music in a laptop, AirTurn’s got a USB dongle for that, but if you’ve migrated your musical cues to an certain slate, never fear, Bluetooth is on the way. The AirTurn BT-105 will bring the company’s page turning technology to iPad, using a transmitter that attaches to standard professional footswitches, allowing you to turn full pages and half pages of sheet music while keeping hands firmly affixed to your instrument. Though there’s no word on price, we imagine it’ll cost close to the existing 2.4GHz version, which runs from $40 for a dongle to $100 for a package with two Boss pedals, and when it surfaces in Q4 of this year, we’re hoping it will extend bicycling input to all the other wild and crazy apps you dream up. Apple has just let word out that it’ll be bringing its super-selling slate to nine new markets. The Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand and Singapore are all getting their hands on the device this Friday, July 23. We were just remarking on how the iPad’s sales pace had slowed down recently, but this expansion in markets should move things along toward rounding the next milestone. Local pricing hasn’t yet been revealed, but it’s not like there’s long to wait now. “Many” more countries are promised before the end of the year, so don’t despair if your local Apple Store isn’t stocking the iPad just yet.

One of the main features? The update “improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display.” Interesting. We’re updating some devices right now, and will report back with what we find.

If you find yourself a little unimpressed with Netflix’s Instant selection and you’re needing to rent something a bit newer right now, the new iPad-optimized version of the mSpot movie streaming app should fit all up in your niche. For between $2.99 and $3.99 you can rent and watch a movie streaming right to your little slab of delight over either 3G or WiFi, though we’re told those who do it via 802.11 can expect higher quality. You can also rent movies on your home computer, pause them there, and then resume playback on your iPad right where you left off. Handy when it’s time to run to the train and you just can’t wait to see whether George Clooney’s Up in the Air character manages to find room for true companionship in his backpack.

It’s called Frash, and while the plugin is still pretty early and doesn’t do video playback yet, you can definitely play games and other animations right now, and we’re told video support is forthcoming. Okay, so let’s try this out, shall we? It’s not point-and-click simple, but it’s not that hard, either. Full instructions after the break.

“The iPad’s IPS panel is pressure-sensitive, you say?” No, that’s not quite right, but with some clever software and a special capacitive stylus, the folks at Ten One Design built a convincing proof of concept anyhow. While we’re not quite sure how it works, the current theory states that the soft tip of the stylus expands like a brush when you press it down, generating a “larger press” that can be detected by the hooks in Ten One’s code — which they soon plan to share as a free software library (assuming Apple allows) with developers around the world. See it in action in a video after the break, and if you’re feeling your inner Rorschach today, let us know what you see in the above drawing.

Take it with a grain of salt, but it’s looking like some prayers have been answered on this Fourth of July — Flash (or is that “Frash”?) is running on this man’s iPad, cleverly ported from Android. The YouTube video claims that by using a compatibility layer, the Android runtime can play Flash content natively in Safari, but only on iPad so far — iPhone 3GS support is planned soon, as is iOS 4, and there’s a call for developers to move the project forward at GitHub. We’ve no way of determining its legitimacy at this moment, but it sure seems like Comex (he of the iPad “Spirit” jailbreak) has outdone himself this time, and hey, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, right? Update: It appears Comex has indeed been working on this project for some time; a second blurry video after the break (running on iPhone) shows us what it used to look like.

So, there’s two ways to look at this. One would be to gawk at the fact that ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports broadcasting, is using iPads and Xbox 360 consoles — common devices that are widely available to mere mortals — to drive content to millions of consumers. Another would be to gawk at the fact that ESPN has somehow managed to keep its finger on the pulse of innovation, despite being swallowed by Disney and being a part of one of the planet’s most monolithic corporations. Thankfully for you, we’re going to cover both angles here. Our eyes were opened after stepping foot in the company’s Bristol headquarters and really getting a feel for how the company views technology and its integration into programming, and it led us to a philosophical conclusion about how corporations should (but oftentimes aren’t) be taking advantage of what’s readily available.
